Authority Although Lamarck clearly adapted the name Leodice and its diagnosis from Savigny's manuscript, published Savigny (1822,) the descriptions are sufficiently different that Savigny cannot be said with confidence to have authored the genus diagnosis which appears in Lamarck. [details]
Etymology Leodice is a female name from Classical/Mythological Greece and Egypt. There is a Leodice who was the wife of King Antiochus III the Great of Egypt.
