Editor's comment Was recorded at WoRMS as a junior synonym of Tomopteris (Johnstonella) pacifica (Izuka, 1914) but this is obviously not possible on priority unless there was a problem with the Tomopteris elegans Chun, 1887 name, which does not seem to be the case. Probably the junior homonym Tomopteris elegans Berkeley, 1924 (then not recorded) from Canadian Pacific was the intended target for this comparison [details]

Homonymy Tomopteris elegans Chun, 1887 is senior primary homonym to Tomopteris elegans Berkeley, 1924 from Departure Bay, off Nanaimo, Canada, NE Pacific [details]

Type locality Atlantic Ocean, Canary Islands [details]
