Original description Diagnosis: Biserial test that displays two stages of development: the initial part is coiled, while the terminal part becomes rectilinear evolute toward the aperture. The middle sized proloculus is spherical. The average number of whorls in coiled stage is usually one. The average number of chambers in coiled stage is 3 to 5. The average number of biserial paired chambers in rectilinear stage is 2 to 4. The axial sections of the tests are isosceles triangle with vertex angle 90–100◦ (Fig. 3.1, 3.5). The test width is larger than its height. The oblique subaxial sections of tests are of elongated ovoid form (Fig. 3.3–3.4). The test height-to-thickness ratio is 1.23–2.25. The transverse sections of the terminal rectilinear tending part of the test are oval. It is built up of a pair of circular chambers, intersecting at a fifth of the diameter of the circle (in the transverse section) (Fig. 3.2). Chambers are globular, progressively increasing in size. The test wall is microgranular, rarely containing agglutinated particles, and usually three-layered with a thin dark inner and outer layers and the light translucent central layer, which was sometimes called “diaphanotheca” (Pinard and Mamet, 1998). The two-layered wall consists of a thin dark outer layer and a thick lighter inner layer. The one-layered walls are dark-grey. The narrow long aperture, located at the base of the last chamber is slit-shaped.
Occurrence: Arctic Canada and Yukon (Pinard and Mamet, 1998), Russia (Timan-Pechora Province; Konovalova, 1962), Middle Cis-Ural depression (Morozova, 1949; Baryshnikov and Zolotova, 1980), Southern Urals (Leven et al., 2002), Volga River (Igonin, 1986), Kotelny (Kos’ko et al., 1985) and Wrangel islands (Kos’ko et al., 2003), Spitsbergen Island (Blazejowski, 2009), Tajikistan (Central Pamirs) and Armenia (Filimonova, 2010).
Range: Middle Pennsylvanian–Early Guadalupian (Kubergandian).
