Homonymy This is a senior synonym of Red Sea Haliclona spinosella (Row, 1911). This needs to be renamed because of junior primary homonymy. [details]
Taxonomic remark The alleged invasive nature of this Chilean (cold water) species is highly unlikely. The homonymic names of H. spinosella (Thiele, 1895) and (Row, 1911), the latter a tropical Red Sea species, have been confused. [details]From regional or thematic species database
