Type species Chamberlin created Plotohelmis for his new species Plotohelmis alata and overtly designates that species as 'genotype' (type species. Fauchald (1977:52, pink book) has Rhynchonerella capitata Greeff, 1876, placed in Plotohelmis by Chamberlin, as Plotohelmis type species but that is not correct and also the two species are not subsequently synonyms. [details]
