Homonymy This combination is a junior secondary homonym of Gelliodes ramosaKieschnick, 1898. Since this is accepted as a junior synonym of Niphates erecta the homonymy has been removed. [details]
Synonymy Synonymy propose by Felix Wiedenmayer (1977, p.57): "Of the remaining cases, only one replaced junior synonym needs to be considered here, being close to the criterion of "general current use". This is ramosa Carter, 1882 ( = Niphates erecta Duchassaing & Michelotti,1864). According to my list of synonyms, Carter's name was used by five authors in seven publications (including the mention by Hechtel, 1965, p. 22, who had not recognized it then as a senior synonym of Gelliodes areolata (Wilson), which he described on p. 25). Another mention of Gelliodes ramosa is found in Reiswig (1973, p. 221), but being in a list does not constitute usage in the sense of article 23 b. Since bibliographic work for compiling my synonymies was closed in 1970, I may have missed some citations, but I doubt that those of ramosa would amount to three more valid ones. "
