Chemical divergence between two sibling species of Oscarella (Porifera) from the Mediterranean Sea.
Chemical investigation of Oscarella lobularis and O. tuberculata confirmed the specific status
of these two sibling species already suggested by allozyme electrophoresis and cytological
analyses. O. tuberculata yielded alkylpyrrole-aldehydes and sterol endoperoxides, when O.
lobularis furnished only 6-11-eicosanoic acid, methyl ester.
