Detailed comparative morphological examinations of recently secured additional specimens of Meyenia minuia Potts ( 1887), originally recorded from Bolivia, made it possibIe to clarify the taxonomic status of this previously ill-known spongillid. The present study compares it with all other South American members of the genus Truchospongillilla endorses its distinct specific position, and extends its zoogeographic distribution to Brazil and Argentina.
