Spelling Originally spelled incorrectly as S. lütkenii the species naem is corrected to S.luetkenii according to ICZN 32.5.2.1. A further incorrect subsequent spelling S.lutkenii (see e.g. Morozov et al. 2023) is also to be corrected to S. luetkenii. These incorrect spellings are not separately listed. [details]
Taxonomic remark Morozov et al. (2023) assigned Schmidt's original material to a species complex, involving S. montalbidus Carter, 1880 and S. domuncula ficus sensu Koltun (1959) (not sensu Johnston, 1841). The authors also erected a variety lanata but this is unavailable for lack of explicit indication as a new taxon (ICZN 16.1), type specimen not selected (ICZN 16.4) and for infrasubspecific rank (ICZN 15.2). Until the status has been cleared we refrain from adding specimen and occurrence data provided by the authors. In a later paper (Morozov et al. 2025), the authors having obtained molecular sequence data, no longer considered S. luetkenii a complex and they apparently withdrew (though not explicltly) their new variety.
