Validity Ax & Armonies 1987 - p. 11, \Macrostomum parthenopeum Beklemischev, 1951 from Naples (amidst aquatic plants at the rubble shore) is presumably identical to M. rubrocinctum Ax, 1951 (Beklemishev, in letter). Note that Brand et al. 2022 recover two species, some of which also have some red pigments on the head." that cluster with Macrostomum rubrocinctum (one from Western Australia and one from Victoria)[details]
