Taxonomic remark While long accepted as a synonym of L. anatina (since Emig, 1982), molecular data does not support this. Instead Goto et al. (2022) recognized the Japanese taxa (that morphologically match L. lepidula) as a distinct species from the Indonesian L. anatina. Lingula nipponica, also from Japan, was concluded to be a junior synonym of L. lepidula (whereas L. jaspidea = L. rostrum didn't match this species morphologically). [details]
