Two apodous holothurians, Polycheira rufescens (Brandt, 1835) and Patinapta crosslandi Heding, 1928, from the east coast of Southern Africa (south of 23 1/2°S) are described. The former species is a new record for the subcontinent but shows several geographic variations perhaps separable at the subspecific level. Patinapta crosslandi, whose previous Southern African record was based on two poorly preserved specimens, is now redescribed on the basis of 24 specimens collected from south of durban: Fourteen species of aapodous holothurians are now known to occur in southern Africa.
