Bianium arabicum sp. nov. is described and figured from the pufferfish, Lagocephalus lunaris, off the coast of Kuwait. It differs from other members of the genus in having lateral folds along the whole body length and in the structure of the terminal part of the male reproductive organ. Keys to the subgenera, species and an emended description of the genus Bianium are also added. The following new combinations are proposed: Diploproctodaeum koreanum comb. nov. for Diplocreadium koreanum, Diploproctodaeum triacanthi comb. nov. for Cotylocreadium triacanthi, Diploproctodaeum bombayensis comb. nov. for B. bombayensis and Diploproctodaeoides chelodoni comb. nov. for Diploproctodaeum chelodoni. Diplocreadium and Cotylocreadium are considered to be synonyms of Diploproctodaeum, and Amarocotyle a synonym of Bianium. The new species represents the first record of the genus from Arabian Gulf fishes.
