Eight species of polychaetes were obtained from the Pole Abyssal Plain by the FRAM I Drift Ice Expedition in 1979, in the area NE of Greenland, at 2300-4000 m depth. All eight species have previously been recorded from Arctic waters, and all but one, Eclysippe vanelli, also from abyssal depths in the Arctic or elsewhere. Chauvinelia arctica Averincev was recorded only once before, from the Polar Sea, north of Canada.
