The fusulinids studied in this paper were collected from the Upper Carboniferous Maping Limestone of Longhuo, Longlin County, Guangxi in 1980. Altogether 19 genera with 111 species have been identified, including 1 new genus, 2 new species and 1 undetermined species, namely, Siliculites euchomaticus gen. et sp. nov., Siliculites sp. and Triticites tesselatus sp. nov.The rupture and deformation of the fusulinid shells found in the Maping Limestone of Longhuo are the main taphonomic features, which may be explained as caused by sedimentation occurring in high energy environment and caused by the compaction brought about in the eary diagenetic stages respectively. According to researches on features of carbonate sediments, the palaeo-environ- ments of the Longhuo section might correspond to the standard facies belts 4 (foreslope)and 6 (sands on edge of platform)of J. L. Wilson(1975).Description of New GenusSilicalites gen. nov.Etymology Silicul-, Latin, diminutive of siliqua, silique, silicile; -ites, Latin, masculine, having the nature of.Type species Siliculites euchomaticus gen. et sp. nov. Shell of median size, irregularly elongate-fusiform, silicule-shaped,with acutely pointed poles. Axis of coiling gently incurred. Mature shell consisting of 4—6 volutions. Length 3.61—5.70mm; width 0.93—1.79mm. Axial ratio 2.64—3.57mm. Spirotheca thin and meager, composed of a single-layered protheca, with mural mieropores in the outer whorls. Septa nearly plane, sometimes slightly folded at the lateral slopes, but more strongly folded toward the polar regions. Chomata well developed, of various shapes. Tunnel narrow and low. Proloeulus minute.Remarks The new genus is similar to Verella Dalmatskaya 1951 in its spiro- theca, but differs from the latter in its larger size, numerous whorls, conspicuous chomata, and absence of axial filling. It resembles Eofusulina Rauser 1951 most closely in the structure of the spirotheca, but can be distinguished from the latter by its numerous whorls, tightly coiled volutions, marked chomata, weakly folded septa, small proloculus and absence of axial filling.
