The fusulinaceans illustrated in this paper were collected from a limestone lens in the Lower Permian clastic rocks near Bainaimiao, about 40km southwest of Zhurihe in Nei Mongol The limestone lens about 12m in thickness can be divided into seven fossil-bearing beds in ascending order as NB-1, NB-2, NB-3, NB-4, NB-5, NB-6, NB-7.The Bainaimiao fusulinacean fauna comprises 23 species (including 1 new species) in 7 genera (Table 1), among which the genus Parafusulina is dominant not only in individuals but also in species, and therefore this fauna is termed the Parafusulina fauna. The genus Parafusulina in this fauna is characterized by the larger shells, the intense but regular septal fluting and the distinct axial fillings. In these characters this genus is closely similar to the species of Parafusulina found from the Cancellina subzone in South China, the upper part of the Leonard Formation and the Word Formation in Texas of North America, the Cancellina zone of the Kubergandian in Pamir as well as the Parafusulina kaerimizensis subzone in Akiyoshi of southwestern Japan. The Parafusulina fauna of Bainaimiao may be correlated with that from the upper part of the Sanmianjing Formation in Kangbao of Hebei Province and from the Hugete Formation in Maolipenhong of Nei Mongol. Diagnosis of the new species Pseudofusulina bainaimiaoensis sp. nov. (Pl. 1, figs. 17—20) Septa more regularly fluted and axial fillings heavier as compared with Pseudofusulina harrida Nogami. Measurements of the new species as shown in Table 2 in the Chinese text.
