The early Permian fusulinids in this paper were collected by members of the Regional Geological Survey Team of Xinjian from the Kongkashan Pass in Xinjiang. There the deposits of the early Permian have been named by the collectors the Kongkashankou Formation, which is composed of grey breccia limestone, siliceous limestone, siltstone and silicarenite, and is overlain by the Shangheweitan Formation (T2-3) with a disconformity. Two fusulinid zones are recognised in this formation. The lower one is the Misellina zone, which consists of Misellina sphaerica Zhang, M. ovalis (Deprat), M. claudiae (Deprat), Cancellina cutalensis Leven, C. kongkashanica sp. nov., Parafusilina gruperaensis (Thompson et Miller), P. cincta Reichel and Yangchienia haydeni longa Leven, and may be correlated with the Misellina zone of the Pamir region. The upper one is the Neoschwagerina zone, which contains Neoschwagerina simplex Ozawa, N. kueichowensis Sheng, Cancellina pamiririna Leven, Dunbarula karakorumensis sp. nov. and Sumatrina sp., and is most probably equivalent to the Neoschwagerina schuberti and N. margaritae subzones of the Pamir region.
