Spelling Hooper (1996) spelled this name variously as amirantiensis (p. 408) and amiranteiensis (p. 576). In Hooper et al. 2000 the first spelling was used, and for that reason this is here adopted as the official spelling. [details]
Taxonomy The new name became necessary when Colloclathria ramosa was transferred to Clathria, causing it to be a junior homonym of Clathria (Kieschnick, 1896 as Rhaphidophlus) and Clathria ramosa Lindgren, 1897. [details]
