Additional information "Björnberg (1986) briefly commented on Geletin’s proposed scheme. On the basis of naupliar characters, Björnberg agreed with the establishment of the subfamilies Rhincalaninae and Eucalaninae but considered that the genus Pareucalanus should be placed, together with Subeucalanus, in a new family, the Subeucalanidae, which belonged in the superfamily Diaptomoidea (= as the Centropagoidea) rather than the superfamily Eucalanoidea. Björnberg’s proposal is not adopted here. Bradford-Grieve (1994) adopted Geletin’s scheme and it is followed here, except that the subfamily Rhincalaninae is treated here as a separate family within the superfamily Eucalanoidea." [details]
