From editor or global species database
Spelling A spelling error by Cognetti (1957: 10, 11) for Syllis hamata Claparède, 1868. Cognetti writes (in translation) "Syllis spongicola was described by Grube (1855) in the Adriatic and later found by Claparède (1868) in the Gulf of Naples. The latter author, while recognizing the great similarity between individuals of the two origins, calls the Neapolitan species: Syllis amata". In the Hartman (1965) catalogue supplement the listing is as "Syllis amata Cognetti, 1957, but referred to Haplosyllis spongicola hamata without comment." However, there is clearly no such species as Syllis amata Cognetti. [details]
