Synonymy "Although the spicules shown by P. cineriformis resembled T. merguiensis, Dendy (1905) argues that the general aspect of the sponge was quite different as porocalices have no specic arrangement and the layer of calthrops was more irregular than in Carter’s species." (Santodomingo & Becking, 2018). Later, based on morphology, Santodomingo & Becking (2018) consider P. cineriformis a junior synonym of P. bacca. [details]
