Taxonomy Duchassaing & Michelotti (1864: 39) attributed this combination to Blainville, 1834. There is no such Linnaean denomination in this work, but there is a plate LXXXXIII Fig. 4 showing a branched sponge which is called 'Eponge Main', which presumably inspired Duch. & Mich. This French language name is not an available name in the sense of the Code, so authorship of Spongia manus goes to Duch. & Mich. [details]Unreviewed
