From editor or global species database
Distribution Santin et al. 2021 cited Vosmaer's M. elliptica (partim) as belonging to this species, but the identification is based on a slide ZMA.POR.P.10796 which has only ‘Noorwegen’ (=Norway) on its label, no further information. It is uncertain whether it was made from Vosmaer’s specimen. Based on the slide the identification of a Vosmaer Barents Sea specimen as M. tumultuosa is not warranted because there is only a single Vosmaer specimen in the ZMA collection ZMA POR. 1548, which was already cited to be M. elliptica by Santin et al. 2021. The slide was probably made from M. tumultuosa specimens (ZMA POR. 4976 and 4977) from the Bergen area in Norway. [details]
