Specimen The registration number(s) provided here are taken from the BMNH online specimen portal, but Hooper & Wiedenmayer (1994: 217) listed these same numbers as type material of Hemiasterella typus, described in the same paper by Carter. The online BMNH portal lists the holotype of H. typus as BMNH 2018.09.25.1, apparently recently provided. [details]
Taxonomy Uriz (2002) transferred this species to Stelletta, but Hooper (2002) maintained it in Hemiasterella admitting that it showed superficial ancorinid characters. [details]
Type locality type-locality unknown [details]
