Taxonomy The identity of Schmidt's Callites lacazii remains undecided (see van Soest et al., 1990: 31). It is most likely a Topsentia, but Tsurnamal (1969) described it subsequently on the basis of material that undoubtedly belongs to Myrmekioderma, probably Myrmekioderma spelaeum[details]

Specimen BMNH (slide) - Spicule preparation with label in Schmidt's handwriting contains oxeote spicules in three categories: 443-680 x 12-15, 196-320 x 4-9 and 80-121 x 1-2 µm. [details]
