Type locality Pillai noted types were collected at both Hikkaduwa and Wellawatte, Sri Lanka. These localities are separated by some considerable distance, but the holotype at NHM, 1968-148, is from Hikkaduwa, approx (gazetteer) 6.1324 80.1000 [details]
Etymology not stated. The adjective rostratus a um, means having a beak, which must be noting the morphology of verticil spines.
