Taxonomy Bebryce peripatus is a nomen nudum, although some subsequent authors have treated it as validly introduced in Thompson, citing the name as "Johnston in Thompson". Thompson used it, not Johnston, and it was stated to be an [unpublished] MS name of Johnston. This was the only Johnston MS name included, clearly indicated as unpublished, whereas other names had abbreviated citations. Johnston himself did not use the combination except in synonymies. He validly described this entity as Pollicita peripatus. Bebryce in Polychaeta would be a junior homonym, as Johnston had realised, so he never used Bebryce as valid. [details]
