Nomenclature The original spelling, Milne-Edwards (1830), is Anchylomera Blossevillii. This was also used by Milne Edwards in 1838, but in 1840 he changes it to Anchylomera Blossevilleii. Stebbing (1888) however uses the original spelling Anchylomera blossevillii. As the name is in honour of M. de Blosseville the correct spelling should be Anchylomera blossevillei, and this is the spelling used by most recent authors. According to the ICZN (Article 33.3 & 33.4) subsequent spellings are incorrect unless when in prevailing usage, such as in this case: “the subsequent spelling and attribution are to be preserved and the spelling deemed to be a correct original spelling.” In short, Anchylomera blossevillei is deemed to be the correct spelling.
