Taxonomy Day (1955) recombined Cirratulus australis Stimpson to Audouinia australis with Cirratulus capensis Schmarda, 1861 as synonym. Later he may have realized this was not possible as C. australis was a junior homonym, and in the 1967 monograph he placed C. australis under C. capensis Schmarda, a later name. [details]
