From editor or global species database
Original description Oenone maculata is only published as a figure and the name, both in French and Latin, as Oenone maculee, and Oenone maculata, plate 11 figures 4a-d in the plates Atlas. There is no mention and no original description text in the text volume. [details]Synonymy Grube (1850: 293 somewhat tentatively referred Oenone maculata to Arabella. He does not use the combination Arabella maculata, but Quatrefages (1866: 365 in a Lumbrineris maculata synonymy) reasonably assumes he effectively indicated a new genus placement, and cites him for the recombination. Fauvel (1923:438) referred Oenone maculata Milne Edwards to Arabella iricolor Montagu, 1804. Fauvel also refers the subsequent combination Lumbrineris maculata as used by Quatrefages to Arabella iricolor, but incorrectly gives the L. maculata authorship (should be Milne Edwards) to Quatrefages (the author who first created and used that combination).
