Taxonomy This species has been proposed on the basis of morphological characters, and therefore it is accepted here pending further studies. There are no published anatomical or molecular studies because the animal has not been available. Lorenz (on a checklist on his website in 2009 recognized it as a synonym of Blasicrura dayritiana (Cate, 1963), as did Heiman (2009). Alternatively, dani has been accepted as B. dayritiana dani by some shell dealers. Both species appear to have very limited distribution in the Philippines, however locality data provided by shell dealers in the Philippines may not be reliable. [details]
