Type material 1 specimen NHMUK 1982182 preserved as "Possible holotype". Examination of the specimen has revealed that this species is not comparable to Turritella cingulifera G. B. Sowerby I, 1825 as suggested by Garrard (1972:318), nor to Turritella fascialis Menke, 1828 as suggested by Tryon (1886:197) yet corresponds entirely to Turritella maculata Reeve, 1849, of which it is a young specimen of a particular colour variety. specimen measurements: 29,5 mm x 7,2 mm.
