Nomenclature When Feldmann-Mazoyer (1941: 314) reported Ceramium diaphanum var. zostericola, even though she thought she was proposing a new combination based on Ceramium strictum var. zostericola Thuret in Le Jolis (1863: 120), she in effect described a new form. In fact, the intended basionym Ceramium strictum var. zostericola is a nomen nudum since it was not described either by Thuret in Le Jolis (op. cit.) or by G. Mazoyer (1938: 326) in her paper on Ceramiaceae from Northern Africa (Furnari et al., 1999) [details]
