Allacanthochasmus lutjani n.sp. is described from Lutjanus fulviflamma caught from Qatari waters in the Arabian Gulf. It differs from other species of the genus, mainly by the shape and position of the ovary, presence of oesophagus as well as two distinct processes on the gonotyle. Metadena leilae Nagaty, 1957 is reported for the first time outside its type locality, the Red Sea. It is redescribed from the same species of fish and its distinctive specific characters are discussed.
