Isometric particles have been observed in the nuclei of giant cells occurring in a disturbed area of the tissue of the sponge V. cavernicola. Morphological similarities are apparent between these particles and adenoviruses. In the same area, other giant cells, probably related to the preceding, contain either nuclear rings or cytoplasmic granules of possible viral nature
