A new species of phyllodocid polychaete, Protomystides hatsushimaensis, is described. It was associated with a vestimentiferan worm collected at the Hatsushima cold-seep site in Sagami Bay at a depth of 1,140m. The new species is characterized by the aristatelike short blades of compound spingers.
