Publication
AnnelidaBase. Note: Publication date as 1894 in Hartman's 1951 catalogue 'Literature of the Polychaetous Annelids'. This date was also used by some posterior authors (e.g. Pleijel, 1991), but the original issue only gives 1893 as the date of publication. This date was also used by contemporary authors (e.g. Verrill, 1900; Arwidsson, 1906, 1920) and resumes in coetaneous journals (e.g. The American Naturalist, 1893, Vol. 27, No. 324, p. 1096; Archiv für Naturgeschichte, 1898, Bd.II, H.3, pp.164-165), and is being considered here, as no evidence supporting the publication date as 1894 was found. [João Gil, 2014-01-13]
The descriptions of the three species of annelids here presented are based on specimens forming part of a small collection made at Sea Isle City, during the summer of 1892. A full list of the species collected will appear in the forthcoming report of work done at the Maine Laboratory. The descriptions of several apparently new species of Syllidae are withheld, pending a more thorough study of that large group.
