Occurrence of an orbiniid polychaete, S. capensis from an intertidal estuarine habitat in the Indian waters is reported. The species has only been once reported from the deep sea region in the Agulhas Bank from South Africa. A brief description of the worm is given along with the other estuarine and marine species of polychaetes in the same habitat.
