The material of this study has been co11ected from the South-Western Mediterranean in the course of two expeditions by the Ita1ian Research Vesse1 "Bannock". The primary co11ection method emp10yed was SCUBA diving. The sampled area is affected by an important inf10w of water from the At1antic. Fifty-nine species have been studied. One of them, Stylostichon equiosculatus, is new to science. Some eco1ogica1 considerations are also discussed.
