Spelling The present spelling in the main text of Kirkpatrick's article is assumed to be a misspelling as he explained in a footnote that the name is derived from the Greek word eumitos, an adjective meaning 'with fine threads'. Also in the legend to the figures (pl. V fig. 18, pl. VI fig. 19) he spelled the name as eumitum[details]
