Nomenclature Almost all Ammotrypane species probably belong in Ophelina. Ophelina was published in same year, 1843, and was regarded as the senior name since 1892, although Hartman appeared to reject this treatment and continued using Ammotrypane as valid. Fauchald (1974) in a treatment of Sphaerodoridae stated that Rathke was published before Örsted in 1843, but alas he provided no evidence. [details]
