Taxonomic remark Anonyx sarsi has apparently not been named previously, in spite of its common occurrence in shallow water and its wide distribution. However, it is possibly the species insufficiently described, without figures, as Anonyx pallidus by Stimpson (1853) from a small (about 9 mm) specimen, a species endorsed later by Bate (1862) but removed to the incertae sedis by Stebbing (1906) and forgotten since.
