Taxonomic remark The type specimen of Bougainvillia fulva was a juvenile of 2.5 mm height. It is by no means recognizable and the nominal species should be considered "species inquirenda". Later authors, mainly Maas (1905) incorrectly associated a much larger, fully grown medusa with this species. This was then later accepted by subsequent authors, notably Kramp. [details]
