Description Mexico. Oaxaca: Cerro Quiexobra (Cerro Grande).  A common shrub in the open understory of tall pine forests (3700 m).  This population has individuals with opposite and alternate leaves.  Verbesina macdonaldii is abundant 1-2 kilometers east of the highest point of the road between Santo Domingo Ozolotepec and San Juan Ozolotepec.  Author Panero, José L.
