Description Praepararotalia perclara (Loeblich and Tappan), showing a smooth spiral side and a pustulose umbilical surface. 5 lower Subzone P1a, Clayton Formation, Borehole Core 225, Sample #140. 2 Subzone P1a, Clayton Formation, sample 40 feet. Both from Millers Ferry, Alabama. 1, 3, 4, 7, 8 showing various states of preservation of the umbilical area. 1 showing imperforate toothplate of the penultimate chamber attached to the proximal margin of the ultimate chamber, fig. 4 shows aperture of penultimate chamber with partially preserved toothplate. 7 shows broken apertural area of ultimate chamber giving the impression of a Globorotalia-like aperture, all, including 6 from Zone P4, Vincentown Formation, Whitesville Core, New Jersey, sample 220–225 feet. 9 enlarged view of aperture showing a thickened rim, an imperforate toothplate covering the lower half of the aperture and the closed off umbilicus, from Zone P1c, Brightseat Formation, Maryland.
