Two species of Dorvillea, D. australiensis (McIntosh, 1885) and D. similis (Crossland, 1924) and one species of Schistomeringos, S. loveni (Kinberg, 1864) are given extended descriptions. D. similis is a new record for Australian waters. Schistomeringos filiforma Hutchings and Murray, 1984 is recorded from Moreton Bay, Brisbane, greatly extending its distribution. A new species, S. sphairatolobos n.sp. is described from the Calliope River, Gladstone. The only known record of S. neglecta (Fauvel, 1923) from Australia is referred to S. loveni. The distribution of currently recognised Dorvillea and Schistomeringos is illustrated and the taxonomic value of the jaw apparatus in distinguishing between species discussed.
