Nomenclature Huber (2010: supplementary Table 5 "Listing of 6250 species with habitats, synonyms and references") attributed the name gasar to "Deshayes, 1830" (i.e. the article "Huître" in "Encyclopédie Méthodique", 1832, p. 295). However, in this work, Deshayes merely cited Adanson's name "Gasar", in vernacular form, in the synonymy of Ostrea parasitica Gmelin, 1791, and this does not make the specific name gasar available. The first act making this name available can be traced to Dautzenberg (1891).  [details]
