Tapeworms of the genus Diphyllobothrium Cobbold, 1858 (Cestoda: Diphyllobothriidea), commonly called “broad tapeworms” or “fish tapeworms,” have been known as intestinal parasites of humans for a long time. Some of the milestones in the history of human diphyllobothriosis are summarized in Table 1.
