Seven species of Ototyphlonemertes were found in sandy habitats of the intertidal and upper subtidal of the Galapagos islands. O. cirrula sp. nov. and O. santacruzensis sp. nov. are described. Three species, known previously from other localities, occur in the Galapagos: O. fila, O. erneba and O. americana. Some additional data on their organization are given and deviations from previous descriptions are discussed. The remaining 2 spp., Ototyphlonemertes sp. 1 and Ototyphlonemertes sp. 2, both have stylets composed of 2 single strands wound round each other and a long slender canal instead of the usual bulblike middle chamber of the proboscis. They thus resemble the imperfectly known species O. spiralis Coe, 1940 and O. pellucida Coe, 1943. Because of the paucity of material, their systematic status remains uncertain. Ototyphlonemertes may have colonized the interstitial biota of the Galapagos islands in a series of separate events, although this is not certain in the 2 doubtful species. There is no indication of a speciation comparable to the well known cases in the terrestrial organisms of the archipelago.
