Publication date The exact publication dates of Dana´s papers and their relative priority are not always clear from the literature. This inconsistency has caused some confusion with regard to the publication dates of the oncaeid taxa he described. A review of the complicated history of citation of Dana´s publications is given by Huys & Böttger-Schnack (1994). [details]Taxonomy The original description of Antaria crassimana is based on a male specimen, which cannot be unequivocally identified from the original description. According to Giesbrecht (1893 ["1892"]) it might belong to Oncaea venusta or O. mediterranea. [details]
